Naked® Juice Coconut Water Review (National Nutrition Month®)

I am a water person. Water is my choice of beverage at home and when eating out. However, occasionally, it is nice to drink something else, something with flavor. A few years ago, beverage companies began adding flavor to water. I gave it a try. Some flavors worked better than others, but in the end, it was just water. Recently, I have seen more and more coconut water in the market. I wasn't sure if this was just coconut-flavored water or what. I decided to give it a try.

About Naked® Juice

Naked Juice began in Santa Monica, CA in 1983. As their name implies, their products are completely naked in that they are free of artificial flavors, sweeteners, and preservatives. Their product line includes juices and smoothies, fruit juice and oat smoothies, and coconut water. In addition to fruits and vegetables, Naked products are given a bit of a boost such as barley grass, biotin, choline, spirulina, wheat grass, and vitamins, among others. This eco-conscious company bottles products in recycled material that are completely recyclable. In addition, their bottling facility, as well as their offices, are eco-friendly, having received the Leadership in Environmental Design status.

MY THOUGHTS
I've been drinking Naked® Juice for a long time, since the late 90s. I love it. I've tried a variety of flavors, even the green machine. I was given a sample of each of the 4 flavors of Coconut Water to review: Plain, Lychee, Pineapple, and Mango Peach. I have to say that it was definitely different than what I was used to. What I am used to is coconut juice straight from the fruit which is a lot sweeter than the coconut water I reviewed. After I got over the initial shock, I savored the coconut water for itself. My favorite flavor of the 4 is mango peach. Coconut Water is not flavored water, I mean yes, all the other flavors beside plain is flavored, but it's not flavored water, it's coconut water.

Coconut water is the liquid from the coconut fruit. What's great about Naked® Juice Coconut Water is that it is completely naked, with nothing added, preservatives or sweeteners. It provides micronutrients for good health like Magnesium, Calcium, and Potassium. The flavored versions have a subtle taste to them, not just a hint of mango peach, pineapple, or lychee, but certainly nothing overwhelming. You can still taste the coconut water. The night before my husband tried the Coconut Water, he had a leg cramp, a very bad one. He was looking for a banana and we had just run out. The next morning, as he was telling me the story, I told him about the Coconut Water I received for review. He finished 2 boxes. It was total serendipity.

The next time you want to grab juice or a beverage for electrolytes (i.e. Gatorade), try Coconut Water instead. It's all natural, no added anything. It will keep you hydrated, provide essential nutrients, and maybe, just maybe, prevent a leg cramp.

A special thanks to Naked® Juice for providing a 4-pack of Coconut Water to one of my readers.
