Sun Protection All Summer Long with Solartex (Giveaway)

As school starts and summer slowly fades away, I am so happy that I found so many amazing companies that offer sun protection gear to share with you during my Sun Safety Series 2012. Swim suits with sun protection built in are now a must for my family. I have full confidence that my children's skin were completely protected from the sun's harsh UV because of these awesome products.

My son used the rash guard and board shorts in black/red from Solartex the whole summer. He used it at the pool, the lake, the beach, pretty much anywhere there was water. One of my favorite thing is that it is made with UPF fabric that's rated 50+. This means that it blocks 98% of UVA and UVB. Big B was protected from the sun without the need of putting on sunscreen over and over again. It was sometimes difficult enough to put sunscreen on him before he got in the water, let alone reapply.

In addition to sun protection, the suit also offers other nice qualities. It's well made, it didn't fade despite constant use and wash, and it's chlorine resistant. Apparently, chlorine resistant fabrics hold their color and shape longer than non-chlorine resistant swim wear. The suit looked new the whole summer. As for maintenance, I machine wash and air dry. The suit dries pretty quickly and it's usually ready for use the day after I wash. Although the suit is true to size, the board shorts fit loosely. My little guy has always been slim for his age so this did not surprise me. The good news is, he can probably wear this suit again next year. (Money saved.)
