We received several bags of chips from Simply 7 to review on this blog. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and 11 bags of chips were there for my family's consumption and evaluation. Truth be told, I don't buy chips for my family. It's just not a snack item that is on my list. One reason that I wanted to try these is because I was intrigued by the company and the chips themselves. Who wouldn't be interested in trying chips made of pomegranate, hummus, or lentil? Right?! Besides, I've seen them on the blogosphere and everyone was raving about them. I thought I'd give them a try.
The variety of flavors was awesome, except that it took me a while to pick which one I would try first. I decided to open the Pomegranate Sea Salt. One chip and I was hooked. I couldn't eat just one and actually ate the entire bag myself. Yes, I felt guilty because I am all about moderation, and because I finished one bag of chips by myself. Seriously, I do not do that. However, I did with these. You may find yourself in the same situation, but hopefully, you'll exercise more self-control than I did.
Simply 7 flavors
Pomegranate- Sea Salt
- Black Pepper
- White Cheddar
- Sea Salt
- Spicy Chili Pepper
- Tomato Basil
- Roasted Bell Pepper
- Sea Salt
- Bruschetta
- Creamy Dill
- Lentil Jalapeno
I then tried the Hummus and Lentil Sea Salt to compare to the Pomegranate Sea Salt. Overall, out of all the different flavors I think that my favorite was the Hummus. To my tastebud, it just had more flavor than the other two. The pomegranate was a little sweet compared to the other two also. All in all, the chips were tasty and flavorful. You'll find that each person will gravitate towards one flavor and have their favorites. I do have to caution you about the spicier flavors. The Black Pepper and Chili Pepper have a kick. If you don't like spicy, avoid these flavors. I happen to like spicy and really couldn't get enough of these two.
Favorite features
- Variety of delicious flavors
- Made with all natural ingredients
- Free of artificial colors, flavors, additives, and preservatives
- Perfect shape for dipping
- Gluten free (though we are not a GF family)
- Not greasy compared to other chips. Even after eating the whole bag (gasp!) my fingers were barely greasy.
The price point of $3.19 for a bag is great. For an all-natural snack that is also gluten free, that's quite a good price. Despite the fact that these chips are not your ordinary potato chips, and in some cases, can be comparable to gourmet chips, this price is good. I also like that these are available in select grocery stores, so there's no need to go out of the way to a health food or specialty grocery store. It's conveniently available to consumers.
A little about Simply 7 Snacks
I decided to create a company that makes sure that every ingredient in our products is not only natural but is SIMPLE. You should be able to identify the raw vegetable, fruit, grain, or legume the ingredients in our products come from. I also wanted to show people that simple ingredients are actually exceptionally delicious. I don’t have a place in my pantry for healthy products that taste like cardboard, so I don’t expect you to have to sacrifice taste either. We took these principles and established the 7 core standards that our company stands behind.
