SodaStream Review - HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE

The ability to make our own soda and carbonated drinks at home is awesome, and SodaStream certainly makes this possible. Our family had the opportunity to review the Fountain Jet and I can't say enough good things about it.

About SodaStream
SodaStream is the world's largest manufacturer of carbonating units for home use. They offer products that allow consumers to forego purchasing pre-packed beverages in cans or bottles. Their product line includes: soda maker, flavors, carbonating bottles, and carbonators. Since 1991, over 10 million soda makers have been sold globally; reducing environmental waste and increasing cost savings for customers.

MY THOUGHTS
Assembly
Assembly took about 2 minutes. All my husband did was install the carbonator in the unit, which was very easy to do.
Design
The Fountain Jet is a no-fuss unit that is compact, sleek, easy to use and clean, and overall, a well-designed gadget. I love that this is a stand-alone product that requires no batteries or electricity. It is lightweight, but sturdy. I like that it comes in a variety of colors as well. As far as the flavors, I think SodaStream has done an incredible job of providing a wide range of variety to satisfy the palate. Consumers can choose from flavors such as juice, tea, soda (regular and diet), energy drink (regular and diet), and fruit essence. There is so much to choose from. Additionally, most of the consumable packages are completely recyclable and are BPA free.
Durability
My husband, have been using this EVERYDAY since we received it and it has done really well. We have seen similar (albeit older) SodaStream products at friends' houses and they still work. I have no doubt that we will be using this for a very long time.

Functionality
I love that this product is environmentally-friendly, in that it really reduced the amount of aluminum cans and plastic bottles we have bought and recycled since we received it. According to the SodaStream website, each carbonator makes at most 110 liters of beverage. That's a reduction of 310 aluminum cans. Not that we consumed that much soda to begin with, but since using the Fountain Jet, we haven't bought any soda or carbonated juice for our household at all. And for this reason, it's also very wallet-friendly. The Fountain Jet is so easy to use: you fill the reusable carbonating bottle with water (we use filtered water from our fridge), carbonate it, and add sodamix. That's it! Each syrup container has a guide of how much of it to use so you never have to second guess yourself. Due to my hyperemesis, my body can't tolerate carbonated drinks for the time being. So, my husband has had the pleasure of monopolizing the Fountain Jet. He has tried several different flavors - and they really do taste very similar to the store bought variety- but his favorite by far is the root beer.
Price
For $79.99, the Fountain Jet is absolutely worth every penny. This would make such an amazing gift to someone who loves carbonated drinks, novel kitchen gadgets, or enjoys entertaining. In all honesty, this would be a great gift for anyone. I can't recommend this product enough. Additionally, you can buy SodaStream products at brick and mortar stores that offer coupons and discounts for added savings.
